2009 DOG OF THE YEAR QUALIFICATIONS

All Michigan Brittany Club members are encouraged to submit their dogs for consideration of the
2009 Dog of the Year in the following categories:  

Dual Dog

Open All Age                                                         Amateur All Age

Open Gun Dog                                                      Amateur Gun Dog

Show Dog                                                              Best of Opposite Sex

Juvenile Show Dog                                               Juvenile Field Dog

Obedience                                                             Master Hunter

Winners will be featured in a full page tribute in the American Brittany Club magazine.  Cut off date for submitting entries is March 1, 2010

Wins/Points will be tabulated on a calendar year basis from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 , based on the date of the event.  All claims to points must be verifiable by the AKC Gazette, American Field or the ABC.  In counting points, count number of dogs defeated. 

All Age/Gun Dog/Juvenile Field:  A minimum of 50 dogs defeated is required to win.  All placements awarded points based on number of dogs defeated.  Points are awarded for placements at AKC trials, American Field trials, Classics, Championships and Futurities on the following basis:

1 Hour Stakes:

1st Place – 10 points (for each dog defeated)

2nd Place – 6 points (for each dog defeated)

3rd Place - 4 points (for each dog defeated)

4th Place – 2 points (for each dog defeated)

˝ Hour Stakes (or shorter for Juvenile Field Dogs)

1st Place – 5 points (for each dog defeated)

2nd Place – 3 points (for each dog defeated)

3rd Place – 2 points (for each dog defeated)

4th Place – 1 point (for each dog defeated)

Show:  A minimum of 50 dogs defeated is required to win.  BOB, BOS, WD, WB, BOW and Group placements are awarded points based upon number of dogs defeated in AKC shows and futurities only.  Five bonus points will be awarded for National BOB and also BOB at the Futurities.

Dual Dog:  A minimum of 30 show dogs defeated and 50 field dogs defeated are required to win.  If there is more than one dog eligible, the award will be given to the dog with the greatest cumulative total.

Master Hunter:  Dog must have received its Master Hunter title during the calendar year.  All Master Hunter dogs will be recognized.

Please let Judy know also if you have put any AKC Field, AKC Show, Obedience or American Field Title  
on your dog during the year.  New Junior and Senior Hunting dogs will also be recognized  
in the American Brittany ad as MBC “New Title Holders”.
